Nature’s Fynd is a groundbreaking food tech company born out of NASA-supported research on extremophiles in the geothermal pools of Yellowstone National Park. Our novel fermentation technology produces a sustainable source of complete protein using only a fraction of the resources required by traditional agriculture. This role is a technical leader with primary responsibility in the area of ingredient science and development of novel food products. This individual will have the ability to create, drive, and develop understanding of functionality of novel ingredients as well as vegan food prototypes.

• Minimum 8 years of experience in research & development/product or process development of new products
• Possess strong technical and functional skills and understand ingredient functionality, protein chemistry and process interaction in various food matrices
• Track record of building and leading productive technical teams
• Be able to drive product development with a focus on the ambiguous front-end of innovation
• Use novel fungi nutritional protein ingredients in a variety of applications to test feasibility and product or ingredient performance
• Attention to detail and the ability to communicate complex results in a clear manner
• Conduct bench top work and pilot plant trials to explore ingredient functionality at the molecular level as well as the macro level and optimize processes

• Preferred Ph.D. or Master of Science in Analytical Chemistry, Protein Chemistry, Food Science, Food or Chemical Engineering, or related experience in the ingredient or food industry
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong people management skills
• Strong interpersonal, influencing, and project management skills
• Comfortable working in a start-up environment
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage complexity
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and set technical direction
• Self-motivated by problem solving in highly ambiguous situations
